Closing it out 🚪 @paulabadosa gets the better of Kontaveit to set up a last-16 meeting with Kanepi 💪 #AdelaideTennis
Paula Badosa stepped out for some late-night tennis against Anett Kontaveit in Adelaide and she proved better winning the match 6-3 6-3 to move on.
The Spaniard was in action at the United Cup last week and did okay. Her tennis improved this week which is expected as she benefitted from a shaky performance by Kontaveit. Badosa opened well taking an early break against the Estonian player and never letting it go. She cruised to a 6-4 finish in the opening set not allowing a single break point.
She opened the second set with an early break again but this time around Kontaveit was able to turn around the 0-2 score into a 3-2 lead. That would be the last remarkable thing she would do in this match as Badosa would storm to a 6-3 finish in the second set winning four games in a row. It was a strong showing from the Spaniard but she greatly benefitted from a struggling Kontaveit.
