The world nr. 1 had a shaky start in her 1st round matchup against Tsurenko but she battled back to dominate the Ukranian in the 2nd and 3rd set

Ashleigh Barty, by many considered a favourite to win, had a shaky start in her 1st round match against Tsurenko. While serving decently the Australian never managed to string together points on her seconds serve. She only won 3/13 second serves and that grim stat line ultimately cost her the 1st set. That set victory was the last good thing Lesia did in this match as it was all Barty from then.
The second set started off with a bang from Barty. She quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead and kept ongoing. Her opponent couldn't manage her intensity and she quickly won it 6-1. The 3rd set continued similarly. Barty kept serving good, she was hitting the ball well from the baseline. Tsurenko again struggled to win points on her serve and she found herself down 4-0 rather quickly.
From there it was a routine job for Barty who maintained her serve and closed out the match. She overcame the first obstacle towards her goal of winning her home slam. How far will she go? Stay with us and find out!
