Ashleigh Barty continued playing smashing tennis in Adelaide putting forward another great performance and beating
Sofia Kenin.
Kenin who broke out a couple of years ago at the Australian Open is defending a large chunk of her points at this year's event showed some promising signs this week after not playing for the better part of 2021. The American never quite found the form that saw her win the Australian Open and play in the French Open final.
As for Barty, she continued playing brilliant tennis showcasing that she will be a proper threat at the Australian Open in about 10 days. The Australian demonstrated a brilliant level today and it was simply too much to overcome for Kenin and probably would have been for any other player. Barty was spectacular on her own serve hitting 17 aces in only 10 games.
Kenin tried a variety of approaches but never quite got near Barty, especially on the Australian's first serve. Barty won 31/32 points on her first serve which is 97 %. The majority of damage done by Barty came on Kenin's 2nd serve as the Australian was able to win over 50 % of those points. All in all a strong win for Barty who moves on to the semifinals.
