The first major WTA event in 2022 will be held in Adelaide and the event will feature a strong field with $703,580 of prize money.
The event will run from January 3rd till January 9th and it will feature world number one Ashleigh Barty in her return to the competition. The Australian player did not play since the US Open electing to recover after a long and emotional year and this will be her first time back. Besides Barty there will be other top players as well like Badosa, Azarenka, Sabalenka, Sakkari, Swiatek and more.
The event is a WTA 500 event and as such it will feature quite a bit of prize money with $703,580 to be won. The winner will get $108,000 of that while the losing player in the final will receive $66,800. Semi-finalists will get less than that with the lower round yielding even less.
