Draw released for WTA Adelaide International 1: Badosa-Azarenka Indian Wells rematch set, Barty-Gauff potential second round clash

The draw has been released ahead of the first WTA tournament of the season which begins next week in Adelaide International 1.

One of multiple sets of warm-up tournaments taking place in Australia before the main event in the Australian Open. It features Ashleigh Barty and Aryna Sabalenka as top seeds.

Taking place between 03-01-2022 and 09-01-2022, top ties include a rematch from Indian Wells in one of the classic finals of 2021 between Paula Badosa and Victoria Azarenka.

The winner of that will potentially face Petra Kvitova. At the top of the draw, Ashleigh Barty could await Coco Gauff in the second round.

Iga Swiatek could take on US Open finalist, Leylah Fernandez who begins against Ekaterina Alexandrova. While Roland Garros semi-finalists collide as Tamara Zidansek faces Maria Sakkari.

For second seed, Aryna Sabalenka, it could be Kaja Juvan in her first tie of the week.
