Emma Raducanu underwent three surgeries in a brief time span to correct all of the issues that plagued her in the previous week to come back healthy to tennis but it will be tricky according to Boris Becker.
Raducanu has been dealing with several issues as she underwent three surgeries recently. The surgeries went well and Raducanu is expected to take a few months to fully get back to competitive shape. That's the plan at least but rehabbing injury is never a certainty and nobody knows when she'll truly be back.
According to Boris Becker the surgeries were major ones and it's not something that you come back that easily:
“The surgeries that she has had are, in my opinion, career-threatening. Having surgery on your playing wrist, and as a two-handed player, the other wrist – and then on your ankle – is tough to bear for a young woman.”
The Brit looked in high spirits before and after the surgery and is currently spending time in Mexico with her boyfriend. She also attended the Dior event there as their ambassador.
According to Becker injuries weren't the only culprit in her sharp decline in the pat year. There have been many factors:
“I’m not in her inner circle so I don’t know all the things that went off, although I’ve seen the coaching changes. But as a young woman, all of a sudden being on top of the mountain, you have to really dig in and find the resources and the team around you to guide you through the next 10 years. It’s about mindset and talent, team, approach and circumstances. She’s not the first one who wasn’t able to do it. And she won’t be the last. But if she was good enough to win a grand slam [title] once, she’s good enough to win one again.”
