Former Roland Garros runner-up Kenin dumped out in opening round of qualifying

The 2023 Roland Garros women's singles draw will be missing a former Grand Slam champion, as American Sofia Kenin was eliminated in the qualifying round of the event.

Kenin, who reached the final at the 2020 Roland Garros tournament fell in the opening round of the qualifying matches. The American was defeated by local wild card Margaux Rouvroy. as the Frenchwoman obtained a 6-4 6-3 victory over the 2020 Australian Open champion.

Kenin has been struggling to rediscover her form over the past year, as the 24-year old has dealt with various injuries that have seen her ranking drop outside the top 100. Currently sitting at World No.120, Kenin will be unable to compete at this year's French Open as she resumes her quest to regain the form that saw her lift the title in Melbourne three years ago.
