Bencic and Kenin to the second round at the Adelaide International

2020 Adelaide International features shiny names like Ashleigh Barty or Simona Halep. 1st and 2nd seeded don't have to play 1st round match and therefore there are a lot of young talents to watch during the first days, like Belinda Bencic or Sofia Kenin.

Most of the matches during the Day 1 in Adelaide were decided already after 2 sets. The only exception was the match between Donna Vekic and Anastasija Sevastova. Vekic turned the match after losing the first set 4-6.

The fourth-seeded Belinda Bencic defeated qualifier Daria Kasatkina 6-4, 6-4. 7th seeded Sofia Kenin spent even less time on the court with a 6-0, 6-4 victory. These two players can meet in the quarterfinals if they succeed in their 2nd round matches.

Also, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Ajla Tomljanovic and Danielle Collins were successful during the Monday in Adelaide. Pavlyuchenkova will meet Barty in the second round, Tomljanovic will be facing Halep. Former world number 1, Angelique Kerber will finish the first day in Adelaide with the match against Qiang Wang.
