Bianca Andreescu hired Sven Groeneveld as her next coach but the Canadian confirmed the partnership is on a trial basis.
Andreescu parted ways with her longtime coach Sylvain Bruneau in June that helped her achieve some of the biggest things she did so far in her career. Since 2019 and her pinnacle achievment of winning the US Open, Andreescu has never found the same form and has dealt with a lot of injuries since then.
In June she announced that she parted ways with her longtime coach and soon after that hired veteran tennis coach Sven Groeneveld. Upon hiring the Dutch coach Andreescu said she wanted someone that doesn't bullshit her. Groeneveld is an experienced coach who coached several players.
Some of his former protegees include Monica Seles, Carolina Wozniacki, Ana Ivanovic, Maria Sharapova, Michael Stich, Tommy Haas and Mario Ancic. Asked about how the partnership is going Andreescu said:
"I already see a lot of improvement on the court from my tennis and metal aspect so I'm feeling very confident."
The Canadian also confirmed the partnership is on a trial basis and it will largely depend on the results of Andreescu moving forward. A monumental part of the calendar year is coming up for Andreescu as she defends a large number of points and a bad stretch could see her drop very low in the rankings.
