Bianca Andreescu wins opener in Guadalajara over Teichmann

Bianca Andreescu proved pretty solid in her first match in Guadalajara taking down Jil Teichmann in two sets 6-2 6-4.

The Swiss player has been playing a poor season outside of clay and it's showing some very bad results lately. Andreescu looked rather sharp in San Diego last week getting barely beaten by Coco Gauff and she showed a pretty solid level in this one as well.

A heavy favourite before the match, Andreescu certainly showed that in the opening set blasting her way past Teichmann who could not find the court. The Canadian did not serve well at all so winning the set 6-2 was crucial for her.

It gave her confidence moving forward as the Swiss player continued to struggle. An early break for Andreescu gave her the 2-0 lead setting her up for a stress-free finish. It became even more apparent when she took a 5-2 lead but a bit of rushing lost her serve.

She would get another chance to close out the match at 5-4 and this time held firm to finish off the match.
