Brady's brilliant run continues, Teichmann reaches Lexington semifinal

World No.49 Jennifer Brady continued her exceptional play this week as she stormed through to the semifinals at the Top Seed Open.

The unseeded American is yet to drop a set at the event, as she made quick work of Czech Marie Bouzkova in their quarterfinal matchup. Brady required just an hour and four minutes to complete a 6-1 6-2 victory, sealing her spot in her second semifinal of the season. She reached the semifinals in Dubai, falling to eventual champion Simona Halep.

Nonetheless, Brady played possibly her best match of the season. She raced to a 4-0 lead in the first set, before claiming it after half an hour. The second set saw some more extraordinary serving from the American, she won 84% of points on her first serve. After acquiring another 4-0 lead, Bouzkova was able to avert disaster and hold her next service game. However, it was to no avail as Brady served for the match and closed it out on her third match point. She faces the winner between compatriot Coco Gauff and Tunisian Ons Jabeur in the semifinals.

Joining Brady in the semifinals is Switzerland's Jil Teichmann, who has been playing incredible tennis this week. After her stunning upset of fifth seed Yulia Putintseva in the previous round, Teichmann faced American Cici Bellis. With the pair meeting for the first time on the WTA circuit, Teichmann proved to be too much for her lower-ranked opponent. The World No.63 hit five aces and converted six break point opportunities to earn a 6-2 6-4 victory.

Awaiting Teichmann in the semifinals is Shelby Rogers, who shocked top seed Serena Williams to advance to her first semifinal of the season.
