The draw for the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers has been released, with several interesting matchups set as teams compete to qualify for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals event in Shenzhen later this year.
Defending champions Italy have earned automatic qualification to the Finals, alongside host nation China. This means 18 nations will have to battle it out for the remaining spots, beginning with the qualifiers slated for April 2025.
There are a total of six groups in the qualifying stage, with each group consisting of three teams. Team Canada, led by 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez, will be the top seed at the event, and they have been placed in Group A, alongside Romania and Japan, who will play hosts for the Group.
Group B sees the second-seeded Czech Republic playing host to visitors Spain and Brazil. Slovakia, seeded third in Group C, will host the United States and Denmark. Australia are the fourth seed, and they will host Kazakhstan and Colombia in Group D.
Group E will feature Poland as the tournament's fifth seed, and they will welcome Switzerland and Ukraine as they compete for a spot in the Finals. The last group, Group F, will have Great Britain as the sixth seed, although they will have to travel to Netherlands, who have been selected as the host for that group stage activity. The duo will be joined by Germany, with the entire event set to kick off on April 7, 2025.
