Caroline Garcia and Aryna Sabalenka played two matches in one because a rain delay changed the trajectory of the match which was won by Caroline Garcia 6-2 4-6 6-1.
The first set was one where Caroline Garcia dominate for the most part playing some excellent tennis and hitting the ball really well. She also served well which allowed her to finish points quickly. Garcia did not drop a single point behind her first serve in the opening set which was impressive. Sabalenka did not play that well but she served well and did not commit too many double faults which was important.
The 2nd set featured a rain delay that stopped play for a couple of hours. Upon return Sabalenka played much better and was able to find solutions as opposed to earlier. Still, her serving woes really gave her trouble as she gave back two breaks with the score being 3-3. She would break Garcia again and this time around get it done 6-4.
If she served a bit better she could have finished it off earlier but even so, it was much better than before. The final set was another interesting one but it was one-sided. Garcia was able to jump out to an early 3-1 lead when rain stopped play once more. This time around it lasted also quite a bit and upon return, the Belarussian was completely out of funk and quickly lost 1-6.
