Emma Navarro is into the semi-finals of the 2024 Bad Homburg Open, but Caroline Wozniacki now looks a potential doubt for Wimbledon after being forced to retire with injury on Thursday afternoon.

Wozniacki was down 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 to Navarro at the time losing the first game of the third set after losing the second set emphatically after claiming the first against the third seed in Germany.

But one moment in particular stood out with Wozniacki falling on the surface in what looked like it was the pre-cursor to the end. She was 5-3 up in the opening set and clutched her knee after a horrendous fall as Navarro came rushing to the net. She won 2 of the next nine games and was shaking her head at the net as she was forced to retire.

She has received a wildcard for Wimbledon next week and perhaps like Muchova, it was done merely out of precaution with the Czech ace withdrawing before her Eastbourne match due to a right wrist problem. It was later to be confirmed to be out of caution over anything else. Now Navarro moves on to face Diana Shnaider who defeated Paula Badosa earlier today.

The last Quarter-Final is currently ongoing with Vikoriya Tomova facing Anna Blinkova. The winner faces Donna Vekic who reached this point through a walk-over as Katerina Siniakova decided against playing. So the latter stages will be confirmed shortly. While for Wozniacki, she will hope to be right for Wimbledon.
