Coco Gauff has won both the singles and doubles title at the Emilia-Romagna Open Parma becoming the youngest to do so since Maria Sharapova in 2004.
Gauff entered Saturday with an opportunity to do a very rare feat which is winning an event in both singles and doubles. The last time somebody did that was at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart when Barty did it. However, if Gauff did it she would have become the youngest to do since Maria Sharapova in 2004.
She first stepped out for the singles finals against Wang. She dominated the match from start to finish defeating Wang 6-1 6-3 in 76 minutes of play. It was her 2nd career title after Linz 2019 and the first on clay. It extended a great run for Gauff that started at the Rome Master's last week.
After sufficient rest, she took to the courts once more for the doubles finals. Gauff and McNally were the 4th seed and this event and they were facing off against Jurak and Klepac who were the 2nd seed. There was no lack of motivation for the American duo and they were superb from start to finish. It took them only 67 minutes to win the match 6-3 6-2.
By doing that Gauff won the doubles titles after winning the singles title earlier in the date completing the rare feat. She became the youngest player to do so since Sharapova did it in 2004 which is very impressive.
