Coco Gauff made headlines at the 2019 Wimbledon when she reached the 4th round as a 15-year old and 2021 will see her return to the historic event.
Coco Gauff has not played a single Wimbledon match since her 2019 debut but the American phenom does not feel any pressure. She broke out in 2019 at Wimbledon reaching the 4th round as a 15-year old. Speaking about Wimbledon she said:
"It does feel so long ago. I won't say it feels like yesterday. It feels like it was a long time ago - and it was almost two years ago. It's just crazy. I don't know how I'm going to feel going back for the first time. I know I'll be happy."
Gauff is currently in Eastbourne preparing for the grass-court season by attending the WTA 250 even there. Gauff understands that people might expect her to feel pressure to follow up her great result but the American simply wants to have fun. She said:
"People might expect me to feel pressure going into it, but I don't really feel any pressure going into it. I'm just going to have fun and enjoy it. I don't really want to push myself to compare my result this year with last time."
Even so, she did underline her desire to do better than last time which is a mentality she always has:
"I want to do better than when I first went there but it was the start of everything. I'm thankful for that experience and it definitely helped me as a player and a person."
