America’s tennis star Coco Gauff registered yet another milestone
in her young career at the highest level.
The 19-year-old is often regarded as one of the most highly-rated
young players in the women’s tennis circuit.
Gauff is currently taking part in the China Open where she has
already booked her spot in the semifinal after securing a straight-set win in
the quarters against Greece’s Maria Sakkari with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
While doing so, the current world number three became the
player with the most semifinal appearances in the WTA-1000 events as a teenager
as it will be her fourth appearance in the last four of such events.
Previously, that record was held by the former world number
one Victoria Azarenka who cemented her spot in three semifinals of the WTA-1000
events back in 2009.
