Coco Gauff has ended her partnership with Brad Gilbert after 14 months. The world No. 6 secured four titles under the American coach and achieved her career-high ranking of world No. 2.
The announcement comes after a disappointing hardcourt swing, where Gauff failed to defend any of her three titles from 2023 and dropped in the rankings to world No. 6.
Last season, the addition of Gilbert provided a major boost to Gauff’s career after she suffered an early exit in the first round of Wimbledon. Just two months after bringing Gilbert on board, she claimed her first WTA 500 title (DC Open), her first WTA 1000 title (Cincinnati Open), and her first Grand Slam title at the US Open.
The announcement was made by Brad Gilbert on social media, where he thanked Gauff for their time working together and mentioned he is looking forward to a new challenge in his coaching career, with the renowned coach potentially teaming up with another player soon:
"Thanks 🙏 to @CocoGauff and the entire team for an absolutely amazing summer run in 2023 and for 14 months of incredible team effort. Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead.."
