It will be
Iga Swiatek against
Ons Jabeur in the Rome Masters WTA final as the Tunisian took down Kasatkina in a spectacular match 6-4 1-6 7-5.
So this was a spectacular match between two players that have been playing rather well. Jabeur has been sensational for a while now and this victory is her 11th consecutive. In the final, she will play Swiatek who won 27 in a row. Quite a final, but getting there was not easy. Kasatkina jumped out to an early lead as the Tunisia player needed some time to settle in.
Once she did she started to hit the ball incredibly well and Kasatkina could only defend. She did it rather well but eventually, Jabeur found a breakthrough with 6-4. The 2nd set was an interesting one. Jabeur had one of her typical lapses of focus early falling behind 0-3 and she never looked the same in the set. Mistakes piled up and the Tunisian was happy to get it over with 1-6.
The final set was a proper battle. Jabeur was better for the better part of it but Kasatkina was able to save some incredible rallies and hold on. Jabeur eventually found a breakthrough and she took the 4-2 lead. It seemed like she was on her way to winning easily yet she lost her serve after some dumb mistakes and Kasatkina made it 4-4. She then made it 5-4 as the Tunisian completely lost her rhythm.
She would have to come back once more after doing it against Sakkari and she was able to. Saving a match point she broke with an incredible drop shot. She then finished it off with 7-5 for the final.
