Daria Kasatkina was playing a really solid match against
Jil Teichmann but the Swiss player was forced to retire in the 2nd set with Kasatkina leading 6-4 3-2.
Both of them played some superb tennis this week to reach the quarterfinal but this match, unfortunately, did not finish the way either wanted. It was a fairly competitive match as these players are fairly evenly matched but overall Kasatkina was a bit better. Teichmann did struggle with an injury that did not seem too severe initially but she was nonetheless forced to retire.
The first set was a hard battle between the players as Teichmann jumped out to a 2-0 lead with Kasatkina battling back to make it 3-3. The Russian won the opening set with 6-4 simply by being able to hold her serve a bit better than her opponent. We saw 7 breaks in total. The 2nd set saw no breaks early on but when Kasatkina got the breakthrough with 3-2 Teichmann retired.
