Daria Kasatkina wins 2022 Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose

After playing in the final last year and losing, Daria Kasatkina finally got it done in San Jose winning the trophy.

Kasatkina played a very strong event at the Silicon Valley Classic finally ending her drought for a trophy. It's a continuation of a very strong season that saw her play strong tennis across several events finishing up with the trophy.

The opening set was a strange one in the sense that Kasatkina was able to establish herself as the better player early but Rogers countered successfully. There were generally plenty of chances for both and the American was able to outlast the Russian in the first set tiebreak.

Rogers served a bit better and she was much better on the 2nd serve than Kasatkina and that was the difference early. Understanding the severity of the situation, Kasatkina stepped up in the next two sets raising her level quite a bit. It's something she has done before at this event, particularly against Sabalenka where she had a comeback win.

She did the same here but the level she achieved was even more impressive. 6-1 6-2 were the scores in the next two sets for Kasatkina who won her 200th career match to lift the trophy.
