Day 2: Results at NYJTL Bronx Open, home-crowd favourite struggles to get into the 2nd round

The Bronx Open in New York is a smaller tournament and is also considered to be a little preparation before the last Grand Slam of the year - US Open. Even though the tournament does not have the biggest names on its startlist, 2nd day showed some quality tennis.
During the second day of play, 12 matches were played at the NYJTL Bronx Open. We could see fast victories but also long three-set battles.
The biggest disappointment for the home audience was apparently the loss of their player, Coco Vandeweghe. Born in New York, Vandeweghe had a tremendous support from the home crowd. However, she did not manage to defeat Blinkova and lost 6-3, 6-0.
The biggest surprise of the day was probably match between 4th seeded Zhang and Petkovic, which ended better for the German as she won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Professionals sometimes forget that it's most often advantageous to let the media and anti-Socia media have its way -- then let the subject fade given peoples' short-term memories.
