WTA number one Ashleigh Barty is out of the US Open getting beaten by native Shelby Rogers and after the match, Barty summarised her feelings for the media.
It was a very disappointing finish for Barty at the US Open as she got beaten by Shelby Rogers in 3 sets. The Australian was slotted by many as the favourite to win the event however she found dealing with Rogers too tricky tonight. After the match she said:
"Yeah, tough one. It's never nice when you have a couple opportunities to serve out a match and can't get it done. But it is what it is tonight. I found a way back into my match. I found a way to really turn it in my favour and just wasn't able to just quite finish off. It's disappointing but we'll move on."
Barty was very erratic in the first match hitting shots all over the place. Something similar happened at the Olympics where she also got upset. Asked if there were any nerves tonight she said:
"No, I felt comfortable on the court. It was an awesome experience to play on Ashe at night. It's an incredible atmosphere. Playing against Shelby and sharing that with her was really cool. I'm not sure if it was her first time, as well. But it was a pretty full crowd and it was fun."
Barty was also asked how her schedule is going to look moving forward. The Australian was not sure exactly expressing only that the team will take a look and decided then. Asked about Indian Wells she said:
"Yeah, yeah, I'll be there."
