The
draw has been confirmed for the women's
Cincinnati Open which will take place between August 13 - August 19, 2024 and is a key stop en route to the US Open taking place in Mason, Ohio.
Seven of the top 10 WTA stars will be action over the next week in Cincinnati. After skipping Toronto,
Iga Swiatek returns as does
Elena Rybakina who looked a potential doubt for the whole of the hard court US swing due to illness.
She was supposedly recovering in Bratislava last week and so is a surprise entrant given that she has also been training all week in Cincinnati seemingly unscathed after missing the Olympic Games. Jasmine Paolini and Qinwen Zheng will also make their return during the hard court summer.
They are joined by defending champion
Coco Gauff,
Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula and Jelena Ostapenko who all receive first round byes. Projected tie wise, Sabalenka has landed in the top half of the draw with Swiatek. Rybakina is in the bottom half with Gauff. The former will face Ajla Tomljanovic or a qualifier.
While Yulia Putintseva arrives as Gauff's potential first opponent. Qinwen Zheng will face Marie Bouzkova after becoming an Olympic Gold medalist. Rybakina could face Leylah Fernandez on her return to the tour or Zhang Shuai. Victoria Azarenka could yet be an opponent again for Aryna Sabalenka on the other side of the draw.
Emma Navarro faces Mirra Andreeva, while Karolina Muchova takes on Dayana Yastremska with the winner facing Jessica Pegula in some other leading draw highlights. Naomi Osaka unlike Emma Raducanu too will play qualifying albeit takes on Anna Blinkova in the first round.
