The draw has been confirmed for the WTA Miami Open which is due to take place between March 18-30, 2025 as the second half of the so-called Sunshine Double headlined by Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and defending champion Danielle Collins.
Collins unexpectedly won the title last year having gone on a fantastic run during this period where she was one of the best players on the planet. Collins will open against either Sorana Cirstea or Elisabetta Cocciaretto. She is on a collision course with Donna Vekic then likely Aryna Sabalenka.
Sabalenka faces Viktoriya Tomova in the second round or Caty McNally with Magdalena Frech the first seed in her section. Going down the draw, Zheng Qinwen is the next seed of note and she opens up against Lauren Davis or a qualifier after some good results at Indian Wells.
Elena Rybakina has reached the final consistently here but can't win it and faces Ashlyn Krueger, a play on the rise or Renata Zarazua in the second round. Coco Gauff has one of the standout ties of the second round where she faces either Petra Kvitova who makes her return or Sofia Kenin.
Maria Sakkari had a great run during the Sunshine Double last year but likely will be the first roadblock for Coco Gauff as she sits in her section. Other seeds to note in the top half include Daria Kasatkina who faces either Olga Danilovic or Hailey Baptiste. While Jasmine Paolini could face Rebecca Sramkova as sixth seed.
In the bottom half, Emma Navarro flanks it and could face Emma Raducanu who faces Sayaka Ishii in the first round who is a wildcard so her best chance of a win for a while. Amanda Anisimova lurks in the section below and it could be a battle of recent champions with Mirra Andreeva also in her section. Andreeva faces Veronika Kudermetova or Xinyu Wang in the second round. Her doubles partner and 12th seed Diana Shnaider is just below and faces Kamilla Rakhimova or Anna Blinkova.
Karolina Muchova could face Victoria Azarenka or Anhelina Kalinina with Elina Svitolina also looming. She faces one of the women of the moment in Belinda Bencic or an all Ukrainian tie against Dayana Yastremska. Iga Swiatek again could face Caroline Garcia just like Indian Wells, while Katie Boulter v Peyton Stearns also looms. The winner faces Elise Mertens.
