Elina Svitolina has worked with Andrew Bettles for the past 5 years but that now is over as the Ukrainian announced the split on social media.
Elina Svitolina has worked with Andrew Bettles for the past 5 years with him becoming her official coach in 2018. Svitolin added Marcos Baghdatis to her coaching team in 2020 and now it's only Baghdatis remaining. Svitolina announced the news of the split with her coach of 5 years on social media. She wrote:
"After 5 years and 11 titles together!! Andy and I both agreed it was the right time to move our separate ways. I am very thankful for all his hard work and endless support. I wish him only the best in his future career!"
The split is an unexpected one as the duo seemed to work really well. Svitolina did not have the best seasons of her career but she did achieve a few notable results including a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Bettles also guided Svitolina to 11 titles which is the majority of her titles as she won 16 overall. It remains to be seen whether Svitolina will add someone to her team or if it will be only Baghdatis moving forward.
