Emma Raducanu did not offer much information about her coaching search ahead of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells but rumours say Rodriguez is the front runner.
Emma Raducanu is looking for a new coach, one with extensive WTA experience who could guide her to further success. Analysts predicted that there would be many who would like to get the job but Raducanu herself did not offer much information when asked about it ahead of the Indian Wells Masters. However, rumours from the UK suggest that Carlos Rodriguez is the frontrunner as of right now.
Rodriguez is an Argentinian tennis coach who guided players to 8 grand slam trophies overall. He is best known for his longstanding work with Justine Henin whom he guided to 7 grand slam trophies overall. After working with Henin he also worked with Li Na whom he guided to a grand slam title as well. Li Na is one of Raducanu's tennis idols along with Simona Halep which is a connection.
The rumours explain that Rodriguez has been identified by her family and agents as a leading contender for the job. He last worked with Amanda Anisimova from 2019 to 2020. Some also indicate that several coaches are reluctant to tackle the job after Raducanu changed two coaches in several months cutting ties with Nigel Sears after Wimbledon and Andrew Richardson after US Open.
The British tennis phenom makes her return to tennis later today at the Indian Wells Masters taking on Sasnovich.
