As every exhibition match, it featured quite a bit of showmanship from both players who were very friendly during the match. They chatted on changeovers and interacted with the crowd a lot which the Londoners enjoyed a lot. The match was not a very intense match but at times it did got feisty with both players showing a desire to win the match.
The competitive spirit of Raducanu prevailed early in the match as the Brit possesses a bigger game than Ruse and it was on display early in the match. Neither player was hitting the ball as hard as they can but Raducanu was quite precise early on. She took a break and held it for the rest of the first set finishing it up with 6-3.
In the 2nd set her good play continued and she was once again able to take a break up. Ruse did raise her level as well attacking Raducanu on her 2nd serve but Emma was able to preserve the lead despite the Romanian forcing a few break points. At 5-4 in the 2nd, Raducanu had a chance to close out the match but Ruse played a few brilliant rallies to pull the break back.
She was unable to hold it though as she made a couple of cheap errors giving Raducanu the 6-5 lead once again. Once again Raducanu failed to close out the match when serving for it allowing Ruse to send it to a tiebreak. Initially the Romanian was better and had a lead but then Emma turned it on and closed out the match with a run late in the tiebreak 7-3.
