Emma Raducanu played a fairly solid match against Danka Kovinic but the Montenegrin put forward the best performance of her life probably to win in three 6-4 4-6 6-3.
The match was fairly high intensity as both players opted to play aggressively without many tactics. Raducanu jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to some brutal shot-making that Kovinic could not handle initially. The Brit had issues with blisters early on calling for a medical time out. Clearly bothered by it she started missing a lot.
That allowed Kovinic to turn around the score and she was actually able to win the first set with 6-4. With time, Raducanu was able to find a rhythm and generally forget about her blisters. Her hand was heavily wrapped and it bothered her clearly but she was able to move past it. She played a pretty good 2nd set overall taking advantage of Kovinic who was missing quite a bit.
The Montenegrin pulled back the lead and made it 4-4 but Emma was still able to secure the 2nd set with 6-4. The 3rd set was played very well by both players. Both Kovinic and Raducanu were hitting fairly good shots but the Montenegrin was simply able to produce some magic that Raducanu was not able. She was more stable and more brave in key moments which won her the match. It was 6-3 in the final set.
