Emma Raducanu recently tried to play doubles tennis and it didn't go that well but she's committed to trying again.
To help her get there, Raducanu enlisted the help of reigning Wimbledon champion
Elena Rybakina who will play doubles with her. The decision to play doubles is a bit surprising to tennis fans who follow Raducanu closely but it's obvious that she wants to get as many matches as possible under her belt before the US Open.
Drawing Serena Williams in round one of Cincinnati gave her some nudging in that direction because the legendary player could certainly win that match. That would make Raducanu's US Open prep less than ideal and a couple of doubles matches would be good.
Playing with a superb server as Rybakina will get her plenty of chances to test her volleying skills. Their draw wasn't very good as they got Hradecka and Mirza in round one who are a very strong doubles pairing. It's a good test though.
