Bianca Andreescu has withdrawn from Cincinnati due to a change in schedule. She will be replaced in the draw by either a qualifier or lucky loser.
Only two days before she was due to play in Cincinnati, Bianca Andreescu withdrew from the event which proved quite unfortunate for Daria Saville.
The Australian was the last player left out from entering the event main draw as she did not sign up to play the qualifiers. She did it last week in Toronto and it left her quite drained for the main draw. Saville would have gotten into the main draw as Andreescu's replacement had she withdrawn before the start of the qualifiers.
As she withdrew after the qualifiers started, Andreescu will now be replaced by either a qualifier or a lucky loser. It's not unusual for players to withdraw in that manner but it's troublesome for players like Saville as she will now miss an event she could have played it.
She took to social media to react to it but did it in a joking manner:
"I am not even salty… but yea happens all the time."
She further wrote:
"If anyone from main draw pulls out before qualifying matches start then players from the alternate list get in. Matches started today at 10 so had to be just before then. And I was first alternate."
