Beatriz Haddad Maia will have a chance to win her first WTA 1000 trophy in Toronto today and she's going up against a familiar face.
Haddad Maia will face
Simona Halep in the final and it will be the 3rd time they played this year. Halep smashed her in Australia earlier this year 6-2 6-0 with the Brazilian winning in Birmingham en route to a title run. Now she'll face her again in the final after winning another match:
"It's a special moment. I think I had a very tough draw. I had to push myself. I played a lot of tough moments."
For the Brazilian, Halep is a grart champion, a player she respects very much:
"[Halep is] a champion. She's a person who works
very hard. I know it will be a very tough battle, but I'm going to
enjoy. I'm going to leave everything on the court. I will try to play aggressive. I learned a lot today because in the
moments that I wasn't too aggressive, [Pliskova] was playing better than
me. ... I want to improve that for tomorrow. So I'm going to try to
enjoy and play point by point."
