The North American summer hard court season resumes with the Cleveland Open, commonly referred to as Tennis in the Land, which will run from August 18-24, 2024 and will be held in Ohio, United States.
A WTA 250 event, the Cleveland Open is one of several tournaments that precedes the US Open. With several players hoping to find their form for the final Grand Slam of the season, they are likely to use the Tennis in the Land tournament as a convenient warm-up event.
The Cleveland Open will see a variety of athletes participate at the event, with 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez set to spearhead the competitors. The left-handed dynamo will hope to rebound from her disappointing loss at the Canadian Open, where she fell in the second round.
Former champion Liudmila Samsonova will be competing in Cleveland, and the Russian will hope to achieve the form that saw her lift the title in 2022. There will be strong home representation from the United States, as Peyton Stearns, Katie Volynets and 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin have all been confirmed for the event.
