The 2014 Wimbledon finalist
Eugenie Bouchard has had a
horrible beginning to her career in the Pickleball.
The 29-year-old has recently announced that she will be
taking part in the newest version of the spot from the beginning of 2024
but had a horrendous start to her career there where she ended up losing to Ekaterina
Biakina 1-11 7-11 in the round of 32 in the round of 32 fixture.
She then appeared in the doubles category alongside Chao Yi
Wang but the pair also suffered a defeat to Malia Lum and Trang Huynh-McClain with
a score of 11-5 4-11 5-11. Earlier, the former world number five expressed her goals while
joining the Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour in 2024.
“People literally just show up to courts and just join
matches and play and make friends. It's just really nice,” she said. “I want to
get my bearings. I want to just not embarrass myself, maybe that's a good goal,
and just get the hang of things on court and off. I want to have fun, try my
best and really just not be too hard on myself.”
Despite joining the
PPA, Bouchard previously stated that she has not retired from professional
tennis and is hoping to play both formats this year.
