Sabalenka's one-shot wonder: Phone takes a hit in hilarious training video
Aryna Sabalenka shared a funny video on social media, where she can be seen placing her phone on the court floor to record her training. However, the ball quickly hits the phone, causing the image to be lost. It was all about a quickly successful training session, as the world No. 1 explained in the video's caption. "Wanted to see how many tries it would take me to hit the phone… turns out it’s one ," she explained alongside a laughing emoji.
The three-time Grand Slam champion is preparing for her debut at the Berlin Ladies Open this Wednesday against Swiss qualifier Rebeka Masarova – who overcame Sofia Kenin in the first round. Sabalenka is playing her first tournament since her loss in the Roland Garros final to Coco Gauff and is trying to move past the defeat on the grass courts with an eye towards Wimbledon, the next Grand Slam to be held in two weeks.
Ash Barty welcomes second child: "Welcome to the world, Jordan"
Australian tennis legend Ash Barty has announced the birth of her second child with a photo on social media. The three-time Grand Slam champion posted a picture of newborn daughter Jordan on Instagram, sparking a wave of well-wishes for the former world No. 1 and her husband Garry Kissick.
"Welcome to the world, Jordan," Barty posted on Instagram. "You are loved unconditionally and we are so grateful to have you in our arms, gorgeous girl."
Barty surprised the world by announcing her retirement in March 2022 – just about six weeks after lifting her third Grand Slam title at the Australian Open and as the undisputed No. 1 at the time. The Australian was only 25 years old but prioritized moving into a new stage of life, where she married and has now had her second child.

Hurkacz hosts "Hubi Cup" winners in Halle, then withdraws due to injury
Hubert Hurkacz met with the winners of the "Hubi Cup" in Halle. The Pole recently hosted a new edition of the cup that bears his name in Poland, a competition for children that took place in Wroclaw, Poland. The prize for the tournament finalists was to attend their first professional tennis experience with Hurkacz himself, accompanying him at the ATP 500 Halle Open.
The two-time Masters 1000 champion was prepared for his debut against 7th seed Tomas Machac but withdrew at the last minute due to an injury. The Pole had already retired from the recent Libema Open due to a lower back injury and decided to extend his recovery time to arrive at Wimbledon in good physical shape. Hurkacz reached the final in 2024 (losing to Jannik Sinner), so he will lose a good amount of points, which will leave him – at least – as world No. 38 at the end of the week.
Simona Halep’s appearance on Sports Festival
Simona Halep posted on social media after her appearance at the Sports Festival and following her announcement to return to the courts for a farewell with her Romanian fans. The former world No. 1 was one of the guests of honor at the event held in Cluj-Napoca, where Halep was able to speak to thank the public and announce that she hopes to return to the courts one last time at the 2026 Sports Festival.
The Romanian played her last professional tournament earlier this year, precisely in her home city, and after falling to Lucia Bronzetti, she took the microphone to suddenly announce her retirement from professionalism, after a career full of successes and as one of the players with the most money earned throughout her career, only behind the Williams sisters, with earnings of over 40 million dollars just from tournament prize money.
“A wonderful weekend with a special family. Beautiful people, people who bring joy to many through their actions,” the Romanian wrote on her social media alongside photos of her appearance at the event.
