Eugenie Bouchard calls surprising Guadalajara run 'a whirlwind'

Eugenie Bouchard was one the biggest story in tennis for the right reason although in the past few years she was a story mostly for the wrong reasons.

Not long ago a Eugenie Bouchard was considered the next big thing in tennis but sadly things did not work out. Though still kicking around at the tour she is wildly below a level she once promised to be. Even so, this week in Guadalajara she has demonstrated some of that long-lost magic reaching the semifinals when nobody expected her to. After her quarterfinal victory she said:

"The last couple of days have been a whirlwind. I’ve had matches every single day, so I haven’t even had time to think about it. I’m just so grateful I could stay here for another day."

Her play this week has been stellar and she reminded many of that promising girl who played the final of the Wimbledon in 2014. Strong serving, strong baseline play and composure she lacked for a long time are a winning combination in Guadalajara so far. She is now one match away from reaching her 8th career final and the way she is playing she might just do it.
