Eugenie Bouchard set to make tennis return next week at lower level after pro pickleball move

Eugenie Bouchard will make her return to tennis next week after previously make a move to pickleball to start the 2024 season. Albeit she never said she was turning her back on tennis fully unlike a lot of ex-tennis stars who moved over to the sport.
Bouchard played at the Netflix Slam for instance earlier this year which featured Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal and the former Wimbledon finalist will make a smaller return next week for her first tournament of the year. Living in Miami Beach, her return to tennis makes sense in this tournament with the Zephyrhills W75 tournament on the ITF Tour taking place in Florida.
The 30-year-old revealed her preparation on TikTok as she posted that she was playing tennis soon. It is unsure what her next intentions are with Bouchard attempting to qualify for big tournaments last year before she finally decided to play pickleball. Whether she is attempting to restart at a lower level and work up remains to be seen. Currently World No.346, she in particular has shown prowess on grass and clay, with the former gleaming her greatest achievement being a final at Wimbledon in 2014.
That year she also reached the semi-finals of the Australian and French Open and was crowned WTA Newcomer of the Year. But since then she has failed to live up to her reputation aside from small glimmers of hope here or there. She also flattered to deceive so far playing pickleball but failed to adjust initially and only get her first win recently. She called out Nick Kyrgios after winning her first match amid his debate with a pro pickleball player also chimed in by James Blake and Andy Roddick.
