Eugenie Bouchard made her return to tennis recently and she scored a pretty solid win over Zuger in Chennai 7-6(4) 6-2.
Bouchard was injured for the majority of this year and it was a disappointing thing after she had a few solid outings last year. She recently made a return to tennis with a couple of matches but today she finally played a pretty solid match.
Taking on Joanne Zuger in Chennai, Bouchard was able to win a very competitive first set which she could have easily lost. She dropped her serve in the first game of the match but battled back to take a 3-1 lead after some solid hitting.
She gave it right back and eventually fell behind 5-6 against the tricky Swiss player. Bouchard saved a set point to make it 6-6 outplaying her opponent from the baseline in the tiebreak to take it 7-4. The 2nd set was even more impressive from Bouchard who was simply better in the match.
She served better under pressure, she played better from the baseline and showed that the talent is still there. Now it's all about working her way back into the top 100. She clearly has the motivation for it.
