Fiona Ferro became the first women's champion after the WTA Tour suspension when she defeated Anett Kontaveit in the final of the Palermo Ladies Open.

Fiona Ferro played the French regional tournament where she remained undefeated. She defeated
Kristina Mladenovic twice and she also outplayed likes fo Alizé Cornet. This proved to be a great step for her as she came to Italy for the
Palermo Ladies Open in a great form.
After defeating Podorska, Alexandrova, Errani, and Giorgi, she faced Anett Kontavet in the final. The Estonian also had a great form in Italy when
she defeated the first-seeded Petra Martic in the semifinals.
After fans in Italy witnessed a lot of intense 3-set matches, the final didn't provide full 3 sets to fans. Ferro had a really good start to the match when she broke her opponent twice and won the first set 6-2 in just 42 minutes.
In the second set, she was losing already 3-5, however, she showed her fighting spirit, broke her opponent two more times, and won the second set 7-5 to become the champion of the Palermo Ladies Open.
