Former British No.1 Laura Robson to take the reigns at new Queen's Club WTA 500

Laura Robson who has been tournament director with the Nottingham Open previously will bring her expertise into a new role when she moves into the same position at the newly adopted WTA 500 at Queen's Club.

The former British No.1 and Olympic silver medalist will take the reins at the new event which brings women's main tour level action back to London for the first time in over 50 years. LTA have a scheme for players who want to move into different roles on retirement and it was Robson that benefited with the role at Nottingham.

Another player who is working on these events is Jamie Murray who is the current tournament director the men's tournament at Queen's. As well as this role, Robson has been a prominent media pundit and commentator since her retirement from the game young due to persistent injury and is one of the most knowledgeable voices in the sport.

Now she will be tasked with bringing some of the biggest names to Queen's Club in what is usually a week that takes many of the top players abroad.

"I’m delighted to be taking up this role next summer. It’s very exciting that women’s tennis is returning to the Queen’s Club for the first time in over 50 years," said Robson.

"It’s an iconic venue and has been voted Tournament of the Year by the men many times. I’m confident that the women’s event will be just as thrilling and I can’t wait to get started.”
