Former
US Open champion
Bianca Andreescu is through to week 2 of the grand slam after storming past Greetje Minnen 6-1 6-2.
Bianca Andreescu is slowly coming back to form under a new coach and she is doing it in the place where she had the highlight of her career. Andreescu faced Minne for a place in the 4th round and the Canadian was without error. From the get-go, she played very good tennis putting pressure on Minnen.
The dutch player lost her serve fairly quickly into the match and from there Andreescu kept applying the pressure resulting in a double break lead. She closed out the set with 6-1 posting excellent numbers on serve and return. Minnen tried countering the aggression but only 4 winners to 12 errors wasn't going to do it.
A similar scenario unfolded in the 2nd set as well with Andreescu once again bringing the heat early. Minnen was much more competitive this time around hitting some shots of their own but Andreescu was still too good. She took an early lead adding another break after that for a 4-0 start.
That lead proved more than enough and Andreescu would serve out the match with excellent play on her serve. The serve worked from start to finish and for Andreescu that was the key for a fairly easy victory. She awaits either Sakkari or Kvitova in the next round.
