2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin will be making her return to the WTA circuit next season at the Hobart International, which will run from January 9-14, 2023.
Kenin, who lifted the Hobart title in 2019, was injury-stricken for the bulk of the 2022 season. The former World No.4 saw her ranking drop outside the top 300, but has slowly been climbing her way back up as she competes in various WTA 125k events.
Currently ranked 235th in the world, the 24-year old is hoping to use Hobart as a stepping stone to reach a level where she can again compete with the best players in the world.
"I'm super-excited to be back again," announced Kenin in a video released by the Hobart organizers. "I can't wait to start off my 2023 season and can't wait to see you guys there."
After taking the tennis world by storm and winning her only Grand Slam title in Melbourne almost three years ago, Kenin has been inconsistent, mostly due to her contracting Covid and a slew of injuries that have seen her take time off from competitive play.
