Although the members of the ATP and WTA tour share several similarities, the female players have been labeled as 'more professional' than their male counterparts, according to coach Pere Riba.
Riba, who is a retired player himself, has worked with some WTA stars during his tenure as a coach. Most notable are top-ranked American and reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff, in addition to Australian Open finalist Zheng Qinwen. Therefore, the Spaniard has had a peek behind the scenes on both the ATP and WTA circuits, as both a player and a member of the coaching staff.

WTA players are generally more disciplined, says Riba

In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, Riba provided some insight on his career, with topics ranging from his playing days till his decision to begin coaching. The 36-year old was asked about the differences between players on the ATP and WTA tour, to which he highlighted the fact that some women were more professional than their male counterparts.
"I always say that women, in general, are much more professional," replied Riba. "I don’t want to say all of them, because there are guys who are too. But, at least from my experience, if you show them that you are involved and committed, they seem to me more committed, efficient and disciplined than men."
