As the March Madness event reached it's conclusion on Monday, American tennis phenom
Coco Gauff took to social media to brag about correctly picking the winners of the annual college basketball tournament. The World No.3 predicted victories for both the University of Connecticut's men's team and the University of South Carolina's women's team in this year's event.
Gauff logged onto Twitter on Tuesday after the UConn Huskies won their second straight national championship on Monday night. The South Carolina Gamecocks previously defeated Caitlin Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes in Sunday's women's final, which was watched by a record 18.9 million viewers and was the most-watched women's college basketball game ever.
Gauff gives credit to unusual inspiration for making correct picks
After celebrating her correct predictions, the US Open champion admitted her choices were inspired by some external influences. "I didn’t watch men’s college basketball this year," Gauff replied to a fan. "I only picked UConn because I saw [former President] Obama put them far on his bracket ... [I] had no idea if they were good or not actually."
