Because of the technical difficulties, fans of Dominic Thiem, Eugenie Bouchard or Donna Vekic didn't see their favorite player on the virtual court. 3 ATP and 3 WTA matches needed to be postponed until Tuesday and that means just more matches today. On Day 1 of the
Virtual Madrid Open, some of the players struggled to get into the rhythm, and some already secure their quarterfinal places.
First quarterfinalists in the men's draw were
Diego Schwartzman and
Stefanos Tsitsipas who was dominant in his two 3-0 victories. In the women's part, it was a
big surprise from Sorana Cirstea who defeated Johanna Konta and also one of the biggest favorites, Elina Svitolina. And also
Caroline Wozniacki secured 2 points to get into the quarterfinals. You can see all of the results from day 1 below.
