Coco Gauff and
Jessica Pegula lost early in the Rome singles but in the doubles, they're through to the semi-final beating Aoyama and Shibahara 7-6(5) 6-4.
It wasn't a very good event for Pegula and Gauff in the singles as they were both beaten rather early by players they should have won against it. It gave them time to focus on the doubles and they did just that playing some really good tennis and making their way to the quarter-finals. Today, they book the semi-finals.
It was a rather standard win for the duo as they didn't play extraordinarily well but they did enough to get it done in two sets. Sometimes these doubles can go to three sets but they did well to avoid that. The first set opened with an early break for the Americans which they held for a while but still gave back.
They broke once again but still lost it which forced them to play a tiebreak. It was a close one but they jumped out to a 6-3 lead and finished it off 7-5. The second set was another close one as they lost their serve but were able to pull back the break and then outplayed their opponents down the stretch to finish it off 6-4.
