American phenom Coco Gauff is through to the Emilia-Romagna Open final in Parma after defeating Katerina Siniakova 7-5 1-6 6-2. The Gauff continued her stellar clay run that started in Rome by reaching her first WTA level final on clay. Gauff had a slow start to the match, saving several break points to keep the score even. At 4-4, she surrendered her serve giving Siniakova a great chance to win the match.
However, Gauff countered by pulling the break back before going a two-game run to close out the set 7-5. Gauff played better in key moments and that allowed her to escape with the first set. The 2nd set was not good for Gauff who was losing rallies that she won in the opening set.
Siniakova quickly took a double break lead before ending the set with 6-1. The final set featured a great battle between two players with both of them having the chance to win the match. Similar to the first set Gauff was simply better in key moments using her break chances.
She went up a double break and held that lead until the end of the match. A great win for Gauff who moves to her first WTA level clay final. She will either play Stephens or Wang.
