Gauff out in disappointing display against Kudermetova in Doha

Coco Gauff is out of the Qatar Open in Doha losing in a disappointing display against Veronika Kudermetova in three sets 2-6 6-3 1-6.

Gauff started off the match badly being unable to hit the forehand. She sprayed all kinds of errors as Kudermetova sent as many balls as she could on that side. It's not so uncommon, her forehand has been a weakness and most top players have been targeting it for a while. Her serve did her no favours either as the heavy wind made it hard to create any kind of advantage there.

6-2 was the final score in the first set with the second set continuing her struggles. She did play a lot better as time went on and turned around a deficit into a lead. Kudermetova grew frustrated with the condition as well as she started to miss a lot. Eventually, Gauff took the set 6-3 to set up an exciting third set but it was anything but.

Kudermetova managed to compose herself and she returned to playing the way she played in the first set. Gauff quickly shut down and fell behind heavily losing it 1-6. Just a poor effort from the American once more in very tricky conditions.
