Simona Halep is hopeful she could return to play at the next months Palermo Open which is set to be the first WTA event held.
Simona Halep is just one of many tennis players eager to return to competitive play and her chance could be at the Palermo Open due to be held next month. She was speaking to the media on Sunday and she said about the opportunity:
"I have not yet made a clear decision but I hope to start with Palermo. It's hard without tournaments, I miss them, I hope we can travel quietly and without fear soon because it's a little worrying."
She also spoke about how things have been going ever since the world has been dealing with the pandemic. While she outlined the negatives she also pointed out there were some positives as well:
"My life has changed, everything is different. But the fact that I didn't travel a lot was also a good thing because I rested a lot, I wanted this. I hope all the madness is over."
Over the weekend she took part in an exhibition match in her native Romania after which she said:
"I miss playing and I really enjoy participating in this tournament."
It's clear that as any competitor Halep is eager to return to play but she
was also one of the first players to publicly say she wouldn't be attending the US Open due to safety concerns.
