Simona Halep will not be part of the field for
Bad Homburg Open which begins next week in Germany with the World No.3 citing not being 100% ready to play matches yet after her injury before Roland Garros.
Calf injuries have hampered her season with lengthy spells on the sidelines including after Rome with a retirement on the first round after a tear in her calf muscle.
The question will now be whether she can defend her Wimbledon title with the onus seemingly on getting herself ready for that albeit without much preparation to call upon.
"It's a beautiful place but I'd like to just announce that I will not compete this week because my calf is not ready for a competition. I'm feel sorry about that and I'm sad," said Halep on Twitter.
"In the same time, I would like to thank everyone from here because the conditions are great and I really enjoy the time here. I will keep practicing because I really want to be able to play in Wimbledon."
